Message	metal retaines heat very well and does not conduct it very well. I can't imagine a situation(after the block/engine is warmed up) where the engine bay temp is higher than the manifold temp. Of course my NA is much different than a TT. Both of our arguments are based on assumptions, and the only way to test would be with a temperature(RC's have fairly cheap laser thermometers) gauge. Of course if the plenum is radiating heat the surface will be slightly cooler than the core. Air heat dissipates much more easilly than heat in metal - therefore the hot air inside the engine bay will more easilly 'flow' outside of the car, that's another reason I think it would be beneficial to radiate from the plenum.
